Importing an Account⚓︎
This page explains how to import an existing account into the active wallet in the Symbol Mobile Wallet App using its private key.
Imported accounts are external accounts. They are not derived from the wallet's mnemonic phrase, so they cannot be recovered from the wallet backup. Make sure you keep a separate backup of the private key.
If you want to create another account from the wallet's mnemonic phrase instead, follow Creating an Account.
Prerequisites⚓︎
-
Make sure you have installed the Symbol Mobile Wallet. If you have not done that yet, see the Installing the App guide.
-
You must already have a wallet set up and unlocked in the app. See Creating a Wallet or Importing a Wallet if needed.
-
Make sure you have the private key for the account you want to import. Private keys are 64 hexadecimal characters: numbers and the letters
atof. The letters can be uppercase or lowercase.
Back up the private key
External accounts are not included in the wallet's mnemonic phrase backup. If you lose the private key, you can lose access to the account.
